My waist size (the smallest point where I can wear a belt) 31" , this is the upper limit the small size and low in average size, so I ordered both to compare. The small size is about 38" total length (without the buckle) and the medium size is 43" long. The small belt fits definitely to my small waist. I will use the middle hole. However, it would be too small to fit lower on my hips where I sometimes wear a belt (my hips go up to 41"). The medium sized belt is too big for my 31" waist (pictured) - I'll have to poke another hole, but I'm leaving this one to wear lower on the hips, so my sizing advice is, consider where you are wearing the belt and if you are near the ends of the measurement ranges, size up for versatility!Take off the belt by removing the buckle.
