Lexus RX300

I've done all sorts of research online to try to find out what's wrong with our RX300's antenna. There are some good instructions on how to replace them. Our antenna was only raised 6 inches, resulting in poor radio reception. This is a very simple replacement that you can easily make yourself. The whole process took 10 minutes. I couldn't believe we had poor reception for a year until this was fixed. Replacing - Basic Instructions - Turn the antenna cover on the vehicle anti-clockwise. Use a flathead screwdriver and a hammer to start the process. After removing the cap/cap, have another person turn the radio on and give the antenna mast a firm (very firm) pull as it moves up. You may have to do this multiple times. Note the direction of the teeth, they should point towards the front of the car. Find detailed instructions online if you are unable to pull out the entire antenna motor. Remember, you really need to check it out. If it breaks you still have to get to the engine to get the excess out. Install a new antenna. Turn on the radio. Put the teeth forward (make sure this matches the way you came out) and have someone turn off the radio and help feed the plastic teeth. You may have to cycle the radio on and off several times to get it on the ground. I think we did it 4-5 times. Overall - don't hesitate to order this and try it for yourself. It provides some basic instructions on how to carry out the repair. This vendor has a great product at an affordable price. Addendum: I installed a replacement antenna a few months ago and it still works great.
