First time hammock owner here so I wasn't sure what to expect. I'm not overweight but not petite either and I have two younger kids.who I assumed would want to sit in a hammock with me. That said I knew that I would need something that would hold more than 200 lbs. This is the perfect hammock for that. I actually hung it up for the first time over Memorial Day weekend under the a deck and it worked perfectly. The straps seems very strong and the fabric is quality too. The color in the picture is a little misleading. The hammock is actually red with a gray border along the top but oh well, minor detail. I'm not a huge hiker but I have a friend that is. His only complaint was that the carabiners might be a bit heavy. Like I said, not a huge hiker here so a few ounces isn't going to make much of a difference to me but if that's something you're concerned about please take note.
