When your beloved fur babies get old.
My 16 year old kitty sometimes has pee-pee accidents on our bed, so I needed something to protect my bedlinens underneath. This works great! Urine literally just pools on top of it, and you can use a tissue or paper towel to blot it up. I've seen the other reviews complaining about losing it's waterproofing after washing, but I've washed mine countless times on cold, normal wash cycle with Tide, Snuggles, and Lysol Laundry Sanitizer, then tumble dry low heat in the dryer, and it has no residual urine odor, hasn't lost it's waterproof ability, and hasn't become faded or misshapen. I ordered 2 more!
