I bought this to replace an old steelseries mouse pad that was starting to fray and wear down; wanted something to cover my whole desk as well. This mouse pad appears to be solidly constructed although time will tell how durable it is. It is very smooth gliding; however, it has noticeably more resistance than the steelseries mouse pad, mouse requires more force to move, but this isn't much of a problem for me. I did notice that, as another reviewer mentioned, the edges are a bit sharp like the edge of a piece of paper. That's where the star has been docked. I have gel wrist rests that I use so as long as I keep it as close to the edge as possible I won't accidentally rub against the edge. If I did not have a way to prevent rubbing against the edge like that I would not be as happy with this product.
