Pump up your finger muscles

I suddenly have a lot of free time these days. So one afternoon I set about installing the track cover. Small segments make it easier to work with the product. While that doesn't bother me, it also leads to many (many) connections over long distances. Installation was easy, opening the lids and making those connections will work the muscles in your fingers. The instructions did not describe some details exactly. You will need to attach your own tape and there is just enough roll for the number of segments. Measuring the level of detail for the storyline was easy, but there are a few caveats. Connectors require an additional 1/4" of space between raceway segments. Fortunately, this means that the top of the raceway ("cover") is always longer than the base ("tapeed"), so the 1/4 -Spacing can be approximated. That is, as long as you don't make the gaps too big. Be careful of the corners that need a bit more space. Not to mention the bend radius of your wire. There is very little space on the connector part, so the wires will be subjected to heavier loads. When running trunking along baseboards or cornices (or in the very corners of walls) be sure to pay attention to the thickness of the connectors! That 0.00001" (actually about 1mm) makes a difference. Needless to say, that I forgot this thickness when installing and the tape is very heavy so I had to settle for it.For me the cover curves slightly along the bar which is a bit noticeable when the light is right the ends where the wire goes into the wall). It took some creative thought (and sawing) at the other end where I placed the dual keystone flush mount enclosure. I was able to squeeze two CAT6 cables into the rail (Monocene brand, CMR). Your application may be different.

Pros
  • Sturdy design
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
