Great camera for the price

The smart shooting mode is great - it recognizes different types of scenes (landscape, sun, cloudy, etc.) and automatically adjusts the exposure settings for the best picture. The picture quality is excellent. It also has a cinema mode that makes good videos. The mic for audio is a bit weak, but it's only a point-and-shoot camera so you can expect the mic to be so-so. Panorama mode is very easy to use - just point and pan while holding the shutter button - and the camera automatically stitches everything together, with no overlaps or missing areas. I used panorama mode at the ballpark and at the lake and got great detail in both modes. The battery life could be a bit better, but it lasts at least 8 hours of recording. I turned the camera off and on frequently, which certainly resulted in more battery drain. I first used a SanDisk 4GB Memory Stick Pro Duo with this camera, but the camera didn't read the card properly. I even reformatted the memory card on my computer and the camera still wouldn't read the card. I finally bought a SanDisk SDHC memory card that works great. Others have also had issues with the SanDisk Memory Stick Pro Duo, so be careful with that. Pros: Intelligent mode for automatic setting of parameters; Picture quality; film mode and panorama mode; good quality for the price. Cons - Battery may last a little longer; The battery is a Sony-specific battery that can only be charged from a wall outlet using the supplied charger; The microphone is weak for the audio when recording videos.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Almost never
