Replacement may seem daunting at first, but it's actually quite simple. It's just a process of unplugging about 694 little connectors from the old board and then reconnecting them to the new board in the same place. There are countless videos on YouTube to help you with this. Probably the biggest problem is getting those 6-8 tiny screws in and out of the printer to open the box and take out the old circuit board. Drink or stop drinking before you start, depending on what strengthens your arms. The functionality is incredible. I used to be able to hear my printer from below, now the loudest part of the machine is the fans. I'll add a few beeps to the slicer profile so I can tell when it's done. EDIT: On my second or third print, my PLA-loaded extruder mysteriously crumpled around the gear. Pulled out, cleaned up and started typing again. A day later everything happened again. Googling led me to several reports of these boards putting too much current into the drive motors causing them to overheat. In my case the extruder motor got hot enough to melt the filament as it pushed it. Learned that you need to reduce the driver current for all motors after replacing the board. Everything feels cool now. I used GCODE: M906 X535 Y535 Z535 E640. Just add it to your slicer launch commands or install it in the printer firmware. Recommended.
