Review on GBS True Man Beard Balm Dual Pack - Ultimate Solution for Optimal Beard Care by Kimberly Johnson

I wish I had only considered Gentleman's Blend - a bourbon flavor. I bought a two pack Gentleman's Blend and Cigar Blend hoping I would like them. Unfortunately, I don't care about cigar blends and I take them first. Cigar Blend is labeled as a cigar/vanilla scent. What I was hoping for was the fresh tobacco and light vanilla bean scent I found in some men's hair products. Unfortunately, the one I sent reminded me too much of my grandparents' old decorative vanilla candles in the living room. It's not a "bad" smell, but it's not the kind of smell I want to give myself. I won't be able to finish a can of Cigar Blend because it's just not a good scent for me. On the other hand, Gentleman's Blend is fantastic. As others have written in their reviews, Gentleman's Blend does not smell like bourbon. I find it funny that some people are disappointed with this. Do you really want your beard to smell like very strong alcohol? Rather than think of it as a bourbon smell, think of it as a hint of bourbon and a smell that works really well when you're sipping a good bourbon. It really is a wonderful fragrance that is very difficult to describe in words. The texture of Gentleman's Blend is a bit odd. It is grainy and not smooth like other balms and waxes. However, once you place a small spoonful on your hands and rub them together, it will warm up and smooth like any other balm or wax. The application is no different from other products I have used and the grainy texture in no way detracts from the quality of the product. Finally, I would like to mention the fixation and control of this product. There's a lot of gray in my beard, and gray hair can be unruly at best. I use several different products because I like to change fragrances every day. Another brand I use is Viking Revolution. I love their products but if I had one complaint it would be that the wax/balm doesn't hold up very well at all. This is not my experience with Grave Before Shave products. Balms act like a conditioner but stay on just long enough so as not to be heavy or leave an overly greasy residue. My beard stays in shape all day long using GBS products and I can't tell you how much I love it. Overall I love GBS products. While I will no longer be buying cigar blends, I will be buying aphrodisiac and men's blends. Grave Before Shave has a lifelong customer in me.
