Original Converse shoes have a serial number on a tag on the inside of the tongue, and each shoe has that number. If you have two different numbers, then something is wrong. This number should also be on the box they came in. The tongue label must also include the place of manufacture of the shoe. If the country of origin is listed in the middle of the label or at the bottom of the label, it may be a fake. Another detail to look out for is the thin stripes on the sides and top. They vary depending on the style and color of the shoe, but should always be absolutely smooth and straight. Lines should never be shaky. If you have a line pair that stops and starts again, that's a problem. The toe box is made of durable rubber and is completely straight where it meets the laces. The toe of authentic Converse shoes should not fold onto the tongue of the shoe. There should also be a tiny six-pointed star on the rubber outsole, not too far from the Converse logo. If not, then you might have some fakes instead of real things. The logo on the back of the shoe is also an important place to look for clues. It must contain the words "Converse" and "All Star" and a filled five-pointed star. Shoes sold as new cannot have an encircled "R” (copyright symbol) under a star. If your sneakers have this, they may have been made before 2008 and are authentic. You should be looking at the insole (the lower part of the inside of the shoe that rests against the sole of your foot) and it should have the word "Converse" stamped on it. on the insole and shouldn't wear out at all. After the word Converse there should be nothing but the Converse logo, which looks like two broad arrows pointing to the toes. There shouldn't be an asterisk in the letter "O" in a conversation, and again there shouldn't be a letter "P" with a circle around it after the word conversation. If it's there, it's a fake conversion you just bought. I hope this helps everyone and discourages some of these retailers from selling fake conversions.
