I use it to mount my GoPro on three 4 inch arms on motorcycles. I love that I can change the position of the camera from the steering wheel to the engine guard, to the luggage rack, etc. in a matter of seconds. I recommend checking the screw holding the ball to the clamp before first use. Phillips head screw screwed into a secured lock nut. On first use, I noticed that the sphere bends slightly, causing camera shake. I found that the screw needed to be tightened about one turn for everything to be tight. After that everything was great. I also recommend a different type of mount if you're mounting something semi-permanent, such as GPS or cell phone holder. There are RAM mounts that are more secure, especially against theft if you don't plan on moving the mount often. I use a U-mount RAM for my handlebar mounted GPS.
