For years I was skeptical about knee braces, but after a significant decrease in the ability to squat due to severe pain in my knees, I tried them as part of a combination therapy recommended by my doctor (no medication, just a few changes) . Fantastic results! I still haven't regained my full strength, but there's no doubt that I can lift a lot more with a lot less pain. I really like that they are thick for several reasons: 1) They are thick enough to actually provide support. 2) They retain warm-up heat better than thinner sleeves, keeping joints warmer between workouts or between sets. 3) Although they are quite thick, they don't bunch up under my knees when I move and don't restrict my movement in any way, which I was afraid of before I started using them.
