We bought this item as an extra home for our two wildcats. did I say cats? They really are miniature luchadors ready to demolish any furniture. I had to find a perch that didn't take up too much space, that was high enough not to block our windows, while still allowing the cats to easily watch us. I wasn't keen on the colors at all, but I liked the base with two open faces and an extra opening that could be covered. The dimensions were almost perfect for the room we placed it in. The ladder is completely useless for cats, but it does add stability to the upper structure. What disappointed me about the amount of money that was spent on this product? The top of the nest (2-inch margin) was made of thick, carpeted CARDBOARD rather than pressed cardboard or plywood found in most homes. Instead of jute rope, paper rope was used on the main column. I can guarantee that the spire and tower won't last long in the crazy escapades of these two fierce fighters. We will stand by with plywood, rope and carpet to repair the damage as soon as possible. If you have a kitten this product is ideal, but for energetic, muscular animals this product can go bad after a few months. Time will tell how this product performs.
