(in the photo they look like they are a year later now) I got my son when he was a year old because he loves Elmo size 5/6, they didn't fit last month and now is he 2, so during this time I served him a little more than a year. Never ripped or torn, they looked like Elmo. I'm embarrassed that he played with them more than wearing them would be the bulky head that got in the way of him crawling or climbing on the couch. I can't comment on the washing because he's never worn the house down
