This is a sound deadening material but it doesn't make it soundproof. It's a must in a van. You still hear road noise, but not the tinny echo of an empty van. It's also not insulation, but heats up just like the metal it's attached to. After digging around the internet I decided it was worth the money and bought two packs of the 24x48 9 kit for our Metris van. Inside I covered almost everything: ceiling, floor, walls, wheel arches. I know some people are happy with 1 square foot by 3 square feet, but I wanted everything covered. I can't tell you if just adding a little here and there made a huge difference, I just know it works. I rolled most of it, but used a thin, smooth piece of wood to get into hard-to-reach places. You have to press it down to make sure it sticks. But one day he stays. I used some Dynamat tape to mask the areas where the two pieces meet. If you have something like clothing or the like and you keep it next to an uncovered place, the backing will stick to it like tar. Duct tape covers these areas. Great product, worth it.
