Healthy food for your furry babies

I started reading the labels on our products last year when my husband went to cooking school. after overtreatment, fillers to stretch them, and chemicals to keep them on the shelf for a few years. Then we continued with our cat food. Same scenario! Cats are predators. As great as the phrase "balanced diet" sounds on a kit of cat food, cats don't need the same diet as humans! You do NOT need grain, especially corn and corn fillers. However, you will see pack after pack where the main ingredient is cornmeal or wheat by-products. No wonder our kitties get itchy skin, dull coats and weight gain (litters make them fat like humans!). I decided to try this food because of the fiber content. Our older cat had problems with constipation. Since he really didn't like petroleum jelly on a cotton swab to help him, I started looking for any food or treat that might help. Then I came across this food. I never thought cats loved pumpkin, but they do! It's something like a pumpkin soup base with real shredded chicken. (I took a picture but it didn't turn out great. I'll try next time I serve it.) Both cats seemed to enjoy it, and our little cat didn't leave a single piece of squash in the bowl. . For some reason none of them actually finished the chicken. I can't maintain this brand all the time just because of the cost. I know quality costs more but it's still a bit heavy on my budget right now. But I will continue to get it when I can and treat her whenever possible. I definitely recommend it.
