Review on πŸ“· Meikon A7II/A7RII/A7SII Underwater Camera Housing Case with Dome Port Kit - 40M/130FT Waterproof Housing for Sony A7 II, A7R II, A7S II with 28-70mm Lens by Freddy Hammonds

Waterproof but some features didn't work on the A7r2

What's good: I liked that it appears to be very waterproof, although I've never had it deeper than 6 feet. The leak alarm seems to be very sensitive. All buttons worked perfectly. It comes with a dome rating. Works great with 55mm 1.8 with standard connector, 35mm 2.8 with dome connector attached. Both ports feel dry or very clear under water. The Bad: The mode selection doesn't work as the A7r2 requires the middle button to be pressed to spin the wheel and the case doesn't have that feature (-1 star). The /off switch didn't turn my camera on, it turned it off, which was worse than not working at all. My job was to turn on the camera before putting it in the suitcase. The problem was that if I accidentally hit the switch, the camera would turn off and couldn't be turned back on without opening the case. (Support offered a replacement). Lens choice is limited, my Batis 25mm and 18mm (ideal for underwater photography in my opinion) were too large in diameter to fit. 25mm would be fine if the orifices were just 1/8 inch larger in diameter. When the port lens is wet, water droplets will distort the image, making it difficult to capture water in 1/2 by 1/2 increments. Maybe. There is a coating that might help but I was afraid to try since the lenses are plastic. Conclusion: I can recommend this case if you don't have to change the function plate.
