Excellent camera. I have two. I don't understand the logic behind the low price (I'm not complaining). this camera, as well as the Sony wx350 and wx500 and hx50v. For comparison, if I set this camera to two frames per second and hold down the record button, the zs45 just keeps recording. I counted about 100 shots in a row that I took. The speed of the images also depends on the speed of the memory card. Compare this to Sony's compact cameras. For some reason Sony cameras, at least compact ones, have a siesta after 10 frames in a row. Then they stop for a while. Sony advertises 10fps but it's 10fps and then the camera pauses and you can't continue recording until the pause is up. Therefore, you may miss something that happens in this interval. When you're photographing a subject, it's great to be able to take lots of shots (that's what the pros do) and then pick and choose later. I can do it with Panasonic. I can't do that with a Sony camera(s). Don't get me wrong, I like Sony, but that's my experience. With Sony wx350 and Sony wx500, you can't take photos while recording videos, but ZS45 CAN TAKE PHOTOS while recording videos, just press the button! Also, it has a flip screen. You can use the flip-up screen to take photos from a low angle, and even flip it up to take photos above your head! I find the flip screen very useful, it's good for more than just selfies! In terms of image quality, you need sufficient light, but so do compact cameras from Sony. As for video, Panasonic can play MP4 and AVCHD. MP4 is easier to edit and transfer, but AVCHD looks better. In the video department, as I said above, you can take photos while recording video, which the Sony wx350 and 500 DO NOT allow. I'd say the Sony AVCHD looks a little better, but the Panasonic is pretty good.
