I had a set of dishes in my closet and did a lot of laundry because I had a lot of plates and bowls. So I sacrificed all of this for the sake of simplicity and usefulness. This set from Stone and Lain has a simple design, white color with metallic gold trim. As directed on the label, do not use in the microwave due to the metallic gold. I usually avoid the microwave so that's not a problem. The plates curve on the sides instead of having the normally flat ridge. For a soup bowl, you'll most likely need a spoon or fork, but for bowls, that's not a big deal. I like the bowls as they can hold a lot of food and the plates are bright white which brings out the color of the food as well as ample space. The quality seems to be quite good. I usually put them in the sink before washing them and sometimes I have more than one dish in them and they hit each other. But so far I haven't seen any chips so they seem to be quite durable. At first I was disappointed in the lack of coffee mugs but ultimately I don't use them when I eat. So I don't need matching cups for this set. I am very happy with this set, they work very well and look very nice.
