My dislikes are minor but overall enough to warrant 4 stars. 1) You can't turn off the display backlight (or at least the very minimal instructions don't give me any guidance on how to do that, and I haven't found anything on the dial that allows me to do that). It may seem insignificant, but it's not "always on". It turns off when you zero or tare the scale and turns on again when you weigh something. The backlight actually makes the display difficult to read. For example, if your head is directly over the scale, as it can be when measuring something in a container on the scale, the backlit display is unreadable because the backlight reduces the contrast to almost zero. You must position your head approximately 30 cm from the scale to read the display. When the backlight is off, the display contrast is low but still legible. Unfortunately, the backlight is only off when the display shows "0". 2) The legs are made of hard plastic so they slide easily on standard table surfaces. The buttons are relatively difficult to press, just enough to balance with the other hand to keep it from slipping back. I have an old MyWeigh scale with easier to press buttons and a rubber mat to put under the scale (it looks like a mouse pad). Amput should consider both options. 3) It is tedious to switch between different units of measurement. I mostly use grams but sometimes pounds. There are about 15 units of measurement (not even sure how many) and you can only switch in one direction, so you have to press a few buttons to switch from grams to pounds, and then many buttons to go back to grams. clicks to go to the bottom of the list and return to the top. 4) The power supply, which plugs into a standard wall outlet, has a stunningly bright red LED that glows brightly when the power supply is plugged in. It's so bright that I actually turn it off at night so the cat doesn't get distracted by it (cats do crazy things when they're distracted). This LED serves no other purpose that I can think of other than to indicate that the outlet it is plugged into has power (this is independent of the state of the scale). I encourage Amput to remove this LED from their design. My general opinion on this balance is still good. My old MyWeigh scale has a maximum weight of 5500 grams and it took me twice that to make the ceramic glaze. This scale has a maximum limit of 10,000 grams, so I need. I tested it when I first got it and it actually showed just over 10,000 grams before giving you an error message. There are other scales with higher limits, but I couldn't find them with an accuracy of 0.1 grams. I need this level of accuracy to measure glaze colorants, which are usually a tiny fraction of the total mix. The accuracy of this scale is very good. I have a calibration weight of 500 grams and on this scale it weighs 500.1 grams or +0.02% error. Compare this to my old MyWeigh scale which has a 500 gram calibration weight of 495.4 grams or -0.92% error. The weighing mechanism reacts quickly; You will get a stable weight reading within seconds. For scales with their measuring range, they take up little counter space. It's also unobtrusive, making it easy to get around when I'm not using it. It turns on quickly when you turn it on. The instructions say to wait 15 minutes after powering on for the electronics to stabilize, but I checked this and found it redundant, at least in my case. When it goes through its initialization sequence and displays "0.0" (luckily with the backlight off), it's ready to use.
