For the price it's very nice!

If you want to start a holy war among photographers, just bring up the topic of light modifiers and watch the battle unfold. Everyone has their favorites and some of them are very passionate. Purists will always be here to remind us that nothing beats a powerful flashlight in a 7ft flash umbrella. Having witnessed tragic comedies in which I carry softboxes and umbrellas outside to take portraits only to see them tumble in a gentle breeze (sandbags, dammit!), I can attest to the fact that it's very often impractical is to have studio lighting on site especially outdoors when you don't have a helper. If you have a scheduled shoot posing for people, you have plenty of time and everyone is ready to get great results, then yes, bring your real studio gear and get amazing results. But when you're on set trying to get the best shots of people who don't want to wait for you to wheel around a whole van full of gear, these little modifiers are great! stay secure enough, although I've used a thick rubber band for extra tension. For fill light when photographing portraits or snapshots that are close enough, they work very well. In the studio as the main or only light? Not much, but that's not a feature of the product, rather its small size - such a small cone isn't going to work well in the studio. But for keeping a flash on a hot shoe, you can't go much bigger until you get in the way of your own lens. If you want, you can unplug the light and move it to the side, or have an assistant (or an innocent bystander!) hold it and still get good results. If you're having trouble setting up some sort of light stand for off-camera work, you're probably ready, and I'd recommend having a large (maybe 24-inch) beauty dish or other small handy modifier. So when it comes to camera flash modifiers, there's not much you can do! Same result. Tiny nuances pale in comparison to the benefits of just tossing the flash aside and still popping it in a beauty dish.
