Review on Acer A515 55 75NC I7 1065G7 Fingerprint Keyboard by Johnny Murphy

I have owned and used this laptop for 3 months now and now I feel like I can give it a long term test. First, it looks gorgeous from the outside because of the aluminum top, it feels good, and having a plastic base doesn't change the game at all. The screen is bright, responsive and with vivid colors. The keyboard is comfortable to type on with good tactile sensations. While the 10 key is a little tight, with practice you can get used to it. The trackpad is good, but mostly uses a Bluetooth mouse. The fingerprint scanner does not work reliably. You can set it up and it reads fingerprints, but after a reboot or boot it doesn't work and you have to use a PIN to access your laptop. I've reset the fingerprint reader, removed it from device manager and reinstalled it, searched and tried every suggestion from the Acer forums and no beans. However, this is a small problem. The loading is FAST. From touching the power button to entering my PIN code 5-6 seconds, yes that's fast!. The processor is amazing too, this I7 will stand up to anything you throw at it. I transcoded a video last week and set the CPU to 100% at 80 degrees C and it never missed a beat. This processor will allow you to play average games when paired with Iris plus graphics, but don't think you can play COD with maximum graphics. The SSD drive is great and loads programs in seconds. In terms of external ports, 3 USB ports and 1 USB-C port are a plus and that's enough. I didn't use the Ethernet port and HDMI ports. The battery life is very good. I didn't get the claimed 8 hours of battery life, but I did get over 5 hours on a full charge. Not having a CD isn't a big deal, buy an external one for like $25 or so. I also like the backlit keyboard as I use it for inspection most of the time when working in a dark room. All in all, this is a great laptop that will serve you well!
