This rearing ring works well on the first try. The textured, knurled handle is very helpful when trying to unscrew the filter. Being brass it helps with sticking threads and blackening should help with glare/unwanted reflections for example. It should be noted that unlike my other adapter rings that I have received from another manufacturer, this one does not have a housing anyway. The packaging was a plastic zip-lock containing a ring and a microfiber cloth. The shipping envelope was a simple pickled plastic bag without any rigidity. This worries me as the ring may have been bent in transit. Luckily mine wasn't like that and fit my lens and filters easily. Given the nature of the shipping packaging and the lack of a housing, this should be a concern for any photographer - personally I wouldn't want the filter thread on an expensive filter to be damaged, or the filter thread on an even more expensive lens to be damaged because the ring was bent or damaged during shipping was, on excellent throughout the rest of the product. The seller/shipper should consider more secure packaging, either with a hard plastic holder (which Breakthrough Photography uses for their ND filters) or ship it in sturdy packaging. box, not a flimsy envelope. Do not get me wrong. the step up ring itself is very well designed; Just be careful when flashing for the first time. If it runs smoothly, everything is fine.
