I was a bit skeptical about this buckle due to conflicting reviews but I'm happy with the results. However, I see that the success of this case depends on the belt. I use it in Colombia but the most important thing is that the strap is quite thick. It's 1/8 inch thick. This clamping mechanism keeps it in place. All dimensions on this mechanism are fixed. So if the belt is the right thickness it works fine, but if the belt was a lot thinner I can see where it will slip. The same conditions would allow an opening. It also wouldn't close properly if the band was much thicker. One guy mentioned that the mechanism was reverse engineered. No, that is not so. This is the switching mechanism. This means that it rotates and locks just behind the center. But again, the belt needs to be the right thickness. I've been wearing it for about a week now and will update the review if anything changes.
