This gel microfiber pillow Z by Malouf Convolution with foldable memory foam pillow, KING, received mixed reviews but I decided to take a chance enter into. I have several medical conditions that make it difficult to sleep comfortably, including a cervical stenosis that limits neck movement. This is the BEST pillow! On the one hand it is very soft, on the other hand it is soft on the outside and hard on the inside. Prior to this purchase I used 3 different pillows which I rotated and adjusted depending on the pain and cramps in my neck and shoulders. With this pillow 2 different sides let me only need this one. The first night I used it I initially thought the loft was too high for comfort, but when I woke up 6 hours later (in the same position I fell asleep in) everything seemed fine. I also need a CPAP machine for sleeping and I need to make sure the hole in the exhalation mask is clean and that's not a problem either. Another point: this pillow is heavy. I only wanted a queen size bed but ordered a king size bed based on my experience with other pillows. The Queen would have been more than happy with this pillow, but she decided to keep this one anyway. I find the weight of the pillow keeps it where I want it without falling out of bed and in a comfortable position for me. The pillow also feels wider than most pillows; I woke up this morning and was lying on my back (which I usually can't do) with my head and shoulders on it. I also bought Malouf's Sleep Tite ENCASE Pillow Encasement Protector Set (which are bed bug proof, 100% waterproof, dust mite proof and have a 15 year guarantee) as well as Pinzon's Hemstitch 400 thread count 100% Egyptian cotton. Standard set of pillowcases. Both fit perfectly and the pillowcase is soft and doesn't wrinkle like many others. As for the smell that others have mentioned: I didn't notice it.
