This is a great dress for the price I ordered in medium because things that cost a little tend to run small and I don't like being tight or short - it is a little big for me but left it like it was for the masquerade ball so I slipped on a crinoline jumpsuit underneath and it came out great. I am 5 inches 5 feet 125 pounds and 63 years old. The dress came down to my ankles - I like it too because it's warm for winter and covers the neckline, very comfortable. I usually wear a size 6, it's more of a size 8 for a size 6. You may need a size small, especially for someone younger. If I order again I would order a small one.
