"Melting Cover " test secret solved

Well I don't understand why some people say their ironing board has melted or smelled. Seemed unlikely with a muslin case. Now I know why: the folks who assembled everything tape the padding to the board, which they wrap completely around the padding so that the tape is just under the thin muslin covering on the padding. People who knew what this product was for and understood the concept of heat transfer would know that it wouldn't take long for an iron to melt the ribbon that's just beneath the muslin wrapper. Judging by the cleanliness of the tape, the people who make the product should be proud of making it. Unfortunately, that's not the best for an ironing board. So I removed the cover and ripped off the tape leaving just a bit of it around the edge to attach the standoff to the board. If you're doing the same thing when loosening the rope securing the muslin sheath, remember to tie the ends of the rope in a knot so you don't need an extra tool to thread the rope back through the sheath like I did have done. Sigh. I also spent a minute reading online reviews to use a glass nail file to smooth out some spots where some metal from the mold (around small circles) might snag on clothing. Now it's very smooth and it was easy to do. The rest of the board is well made, clean and solid. I haven't used it but it looks like it will work very well.
