Please do not buy this small cage as a permanent resident for your small pet. It's small - very small. I used it for a couple of weeks after having 2 little orphaned squirrels that were 3 weeks old but outgrew them quickly. Everything was fine at first because the little squirrels were just sleeping, but once their eyes opened and they started moving around on their own, a larger cage was definitely in order. I didn't use a wheel because it's really too small for anything other than a tiny, tiny mouse, but I did use a water bottle when I moved the squirrels to a larger cage and injected water into their system. But the plunger part comes out easily, so you need to check it often to make sure no water leaked. The dish is sweet, but very small. It's not big enough to be a regular food plate and rodents will chew on it because it's plastic. This cage works well as a temporary holding cage if you need to transport something for a short period of time, but please do not expose the animal to permanent exposure, that would be cruel. This is an excellent cage for temporarily housing or transporting mice, rats, hamsters, gerbils and squirrels. Please also look for something more.
