Review on J 2000 Jiffy Garment Steamer Plastic by David Fisher

I rarely write reviews but I was impressed by the irresponsibility of this company. I recently received this steamer and it didn't work even though the unit was warming up. I went through the company's website and troubleshooting guide, each listing possible causes that weren't related to my device. Customer service is only open for a very limited time so I was unable to reach them at first. I left the unit running for a few hours thinking it might take a very long time to warm up. Still nothing worked. When I finally managed to reach customer service, I was shocked to hear from a company representative that the units had been shipped with a known water tank cover defect. That is, the device heats up, but the water does not leave the tank. The "solution" they suggested was to send me a new cap (and who knows when it would arrive). First of all, this is an inadequate solution because, as the company warns, operating the device without water will damage the heating element. More importantly, this functional issue poses a major fire hazard to me. I find it incredible that the company hasn't attempted to recall devices that they admit are faulty or even publicize the issue on their website. Instead, they simply wait for customers to call them. This is an unacceptable situation and I would like to warn other potential buyers to be very careful not to seriously harm anyone.
