Update - Filter broken after 7 months of use. Definitely a pathetic waste of money. Of course we can't return it now because the window closed very small - and not because of the overall size of the tank. The plastic that is placed in front of the filter and plugs takes up at least 1/3 of the space inside the tank. The filter is sooooo strong, it corners the fish and would kill them if we didn't turn it off. I've seen many reviews complaining about the same issue with the recommendation of blocking the filter with rocks to slow down the voltage, but why would that be necessary? And doesn't it defeat the purpose of the filter if you have to block it to control suction, essentially preventing dirt from getting into the filter? The fish didn't survive and I have a feeling the one we received is defective. Very disappointed. Made cheap.
