My 2 year old who usually wears a size 5. Doesn't fit with the insert. The inside of the shoe is not high enough for her foot and she does not have a large foot. But when I pull out the pillow it fits her perfectly. These are not casual shoes, they are special occasion shoes, and if your child is not too picky about the stiffness of shoes, you should be fine. Mine loves to wear them but they definitely feel stiff inside to be comfortable for long periods of time. But you can't beat the price.
