A VERY nice upgrade from the old RGB LEDs

I have been a professional photographer since 2008 and retired six years ago to focus on being the best possible father to my children. It didn't mean hanging up my cameras. I still use them to photograph my kids as they grow up through the years. Towards the end of my photography career I replaced my lamp/umbrella with an RGB LED based lighting system mainly due to its lighter weight, more compact size and battery portability. As a bonus, I loved being able to control the lights with a Bluetooth connected smartphone app without having to interrupt the infant/toddler recording. With RGB LED lamps you can simulate and adjust certain lighting conditions. From cool daylight (5600 Kelvin) to warm sunsets (3200K) and controlling light intensity, hue and saturation, the variety of scenes you can use this lighting set with is immense. The trick, as always in photography or videography, is understanding how light works and using it to your advantage. The GVM 1200D is a very good upgrade over its predecessor with over 3.5 times more RGB LEDs for a more stable and smooth experience. Control of intensity, color, hue/saturation of emitted light. The built-in diffuser helps cast softer shadows and makes skin on subjects more attractive. As with the older model, the lights can be configured as master and slave, so that all lights can be controlled together with a "GVM LED" connected via Bluetooth. App (available for iOS and Android). It also has the same number of "light scenes" (8) activated via the app, although their use cases are limited to special occasions. The aluminum frame's new red finish makes it stand out (compared to the black of its predecessor) and could potentially introduce a slight red cast to the subject under certain shooting conditions. I would have preferred GVM to leave everything black, but that's just a minor issue. 60W power supplies power the light, while the LEDs themselves are rated for 50W output (up from 40W on previous models). They can also be powered by Sony F750/970 batteries (not included) to shoot anywhere outdoors on location and capture perfect shots or video in low light conditions. Brightness is 22,000 lux at 0.5 m (1.6 ft) or 7,300 lux at 1 m (3.3 ft), according to GVM. What does that mean? Lux is the light intensity at a specific location away from the source. The further you travel, the lower the lux value, while the lumen (brightness) stays the same. In other words, these lights produce an intense amount of light that can be enough to fill an entire room. Luminaire panels direct the light where it needs to go and also help to minimize the light impact on the surrounding area. Impressive 3-point lifetime guarantee. -year full refund guarantee. This is just outrageous and shows that the company stands behind their products (and why I've been a GVM fan for years). Lightweight racks fold up relatively compactly and deploy quickly. The lighting frames can be mounted on tripods in two ways to provide different lighting angles. When you are finished taking photos, always turn off the lights. You don't want to leave them on and accidentally start a fire. Impressive improvements have been made with this year's 2021 model and I will definitely be selling my old kit.

Pros
