Didn't work for me (70 miles to tower)

I bought a Winegard amplifier to use in conjunction with this high performance GE splitter to get free channels from an external to amplify roof-mounted RCA antenna 45 miles, but my closest towers are about 70 miles in a straight line, according to tower search websites. That being said, I was unable to get channels on my Samsung TV using a Winegaurd amp with a GE splitter when checking over-the-air channels. pick up 76 channels crystal ear. With a GE splitter connected directly to the antenna, I couldn't receive a single channel. With a GE splitter connected to a Winegaurd amplifier from the antenna I still couldn't pick up a single channel. Not sure if the GE block is defective or what, but I definitely couldn't get it to work. in several other variations but never got it to work. However, the wine block works almost perfectly. I say almost because my limitations are related to my antenna. I have ordered a longer range directional antenna and will install it if it "holds" reception of our free channel. For reference, our external antenna is wired through about 50 feet of RG6 quad shield connected via F-connectors and a barrel, once per antenna, and again inside the AV closet where it connects to a 4-way tap applied. So it's relatively close from the antenna to a 4-way splitter, which then feeds all the TVs in the house via RG6.
