Review on Meter 2642 Electric Level Gauge by Victor Glatzel

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Works good but fogged up internally

Replaced a cheap $20 Equus fuel gauge in a '74 Jeep CJ 5. a few years ago. The gauge itself is much better looking and heavier, with more reliable electrical connections than the cheaper gauges. Unfortunately, the fuel gauge itself is not moisture resistant at all. With the Jeep doors open, the ordinary night fogs up at a temperature of around 50 degrees. It happens on a clear, cool night. None of the other oil pressure, temperature, ammeter or speedometer gauges fogged up. The Auto Meter is a much more expensive instrument with an excellent reputation for quality. I may need to remove the sensor and send it back to Revain if Auto Meter tells me the sensor should not fog up. Very disappointing, relatively expensive fuel level sensor.
