Revainrating 5 out of 5

4.5 stars. in Mattress Covers & Mattress Covers

I've been using this for 10 days and I think it's ok to leave a review now. It's not exactly five stars, but it's above 4, so I'd rate it a 4.5. Background: I've been getting sciatica pain for the last 4 months, part of it is the mattress we have to replace (after the first year) but mostly scoliosis and fun growing up moments. My husband has shoulder and back pain, mainly due to the aging of the mattress, which exacerbates work-related pain from not having enough support. So we took this pad in case it lasts us a few months. For him, it helped get rid of the pain in 48 hours. 72 hours he is in love with her. Me? Although it helped a little right away, it was an adjustment. It didn't magically eliminate my lower back pain the first night, but it did help. After 72 hours, I had pain in areas that don't normally hurt, in addition to slightly reduced lower back pain. Between 5 and 7 in the morning the 'new' pain is gone but still lower back pain. Day 8 hasn't changed, days 9-10 (today) I'm working with a little bit of mild pain, no real pain. I'm a lucky tourist, to say the least. Pros: Helped us. We both sleep like the dead on it. None of us moves with it that much at night. Cons: It stinks and the smell doesn't go away after 48 hours, even after airing it out. It will be a little less, but it will still be. After 8 days, the odor was completely gone. To give you an idea of how it smells. It smells just like carpet upholstery, so if you've ever had new carpet, that's it. It doesn't look like a bad smell. Until you lie down on the mattress and that smell hits your nostrils. Thing is, it doesn't feel like "sleeping on a cloud" like many reviews say. It's like sleeping on a foam mattress with some drywall on it. It's not "soft", you can't jump in and drown instantly, like in a feather bed. It is firm at first and then slowly envelops you. I'm REALLY not a big fan of how it feels to move around in it when I'm awake. I'm sure I'll get used to it, but sometimes that extra kick can be a bit annoying.

Pros
  • Worth the Money
Cons
  • Too Long to Wait
