Any serious macro photographer knows that a flash is required for acceptable color and exposure. Most also know that a diffuser is essential to ensure even lighting and avoid harsh, ugly shadows. That fits the bill. As mentioned, there are two diffusers you can use on the TG series: LG-1 (LED) and FD-1 (flash or this). The FD-1 has many advantages, it is much more powerful and can work over long distances. It's also more modern and, unlike the LG-1, can operate underwater. The FD-1 finally has good coverage around the lens, so it doubles as a makeshift lens hood and provides decent lens protection. The only advantage of the LG-1 is that it can be used in multi-level mode. Although yes, the LED does shine through the FD-1 a bit, it glows unevenly and off.
