Disappointed to say the least
I have this black fountain too. I have orange slime on my filter and a white deposit on my slide. I agree it's hard to tell if the well is dirty. Filters don't last long either. It's not even a year since my engine broke down. Now I'm looking for a replacement motor. I can only recommend this color! The fountain was okay, but shouldn't have broken!
