The frying pan gets very hot as you would expect from an iron frying pan. Just the other day I used mine to cook a steak and the meat was fantastic. Much better than my regular skillets. I would recommend that you use a handle lid with this pot as the handle is also too hot to touch. After all, this thing weighs a ton. If you like turning your food in a pan, this is NOT for you.
