It would be a great TV if it had sound.

The first TV came with a broken screen. This is not the manufacturer's fault, most likely it happened during shipping. Sent back and received a new one, arrived successfully. I helped my mom install it and set up what seemed like a million passwords for each app and waited a long time for the TV to update its software. The screen is beautiful and crystal clear. The problem is that there is something wrong with the software and the way it handles audio. My mother turned on the TV today, but there is no sound. She thought it was her whistle and called me for help. After going through a series of fixes, it turned out to be the TV itself. If she switches the input to an app (Hulu, Prime, etc.), the audio works again. Then when she switched the input back to the TV, the sound worked on whatever channel she was on, but as soon as she turned the station on there was no sound again. Even if she returns to the original channel, there is no sound. The only way to get it back is to change the input again and then go back to the TV without changing channels. This happened regardless of whether it was plugged into their receiver or just the TV speakers. I contacted Vizio directly and they said they are aware of the issue and are working on a fix but it doesn't help my mother who has to use this now. They said it could be fixed with a soft reset but I don't want that to happen to you again in a few months when we are outside the returns window. The TV is currently being returned. Instead, she'll most likely get a 43-inch 4K TCL or Toshiba. Very disappointing as she usually buys Vizio TVs and the picture quality was really great.
