Review on Genuine Osram 66340HBI Xenarc PK32D 5 by Jason Mitts

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great OEM replacement - saved me hundreds vs dealer

It took me ages to figure out what a genuine OEM part should be. My SUV manufacturer has used both Philips and Osram during their production runs. Both brands performed well, which is why I chose Osram mainly because it was available with Prime and Philips (at least back then) didn't. Also my OEM had the 4300K color and for a few bucks more Osram had this 4600K so I figured why not. With a product this small, it takes a lot of effort to ensure you are getting a genuine replacement and not a gray market or counterfeit part. Revain really needs to do a better job of verifying its inventory and giving buyers confidence. Luckily, both Osram and Philips have ways on their websites to verify the authenticity of the part you received in the box. This item installed without any problems. The only difference from my original Philips lamp was that Osram uses a metal collar at the base of the lamp. Philips uses plastic. I appreciated the high quality metal but that meant it offered a much more rigid connection to the car. If you've ever replaced your headlight bulbs before you know that space is tight and you'll have to be an acrobat to fit them, then everything is important to keep things simple. I replaced both headlights at the same time and have been using them for over a month now. They work great and I haven't had any problems. Osram grants a 4-year guarantee. My standard bulb lasted 6 years (then the first one blew, the second one was still on but I replaced them anyway) so I expect them to last the warranty period and hopefully longer. I highly recommend this product.
