How do functions work? need a manual

I received this coffee tin in exchange for my unbiased opinion and my responsibility and goal to be honest and truthful. I pay income tax on every item I order, so it's not free and doesn't affect my experience with the product. When I opened the box this canister came in, the first thing I noticed was the direction. I had to go back to the list to figure out how my canister works. And I still don't know because the description says everything it can do, but not HOW. I was just about to surprise my coffee connoisseur son with this tin. He traveled to Italy and fell in love with roasted coffee and orders freshly roasted beans every few weeks. It also uses a complex brewing process. When it comes to coffee, he is very picky. I guess my taste buds aren't as well developed as his because coffee is coffee to me. I think I have a more realistic perspective and will drink it even if it's a weak drink served in some restaurants. I prefer freshly ground coffee, but hey, almost any coffee is good, even if it's stale. The lid has a window with numbers from 1 to 31. These are the days of the month and there are two raised buttons to easily select the number of the day fresh coffee is added to the canister. It can be both ground and legumes. The silver dial in the center is numbered from 1 to 12 and represents the month. I can't figure out how to move it. Squeezing it doesn't detach it and I can't find anything on the underside of the lid to move it. I've tried everything and it won't budge. Maybe he shouldn't move? It makes no sense because how else do you know what month you put the coffee in? I'm at a loss. The spring-loaded closure and hermetic rubber seal protect the coffee from light, heat or moisture. There is a one-way CO2 valve at the bottom and the canister comes with two additional filters. How do you open this part of the cover to change the filter? It won't go away! I tried turning it in every direction from the bottom. I insisted. I've tried everything I can think of other than the hammer. Either I'm doing something wrong, or the features that make it unique are broken, or the idea just doesn't work. I tend to think it's probably the first or second, so it must have a manual or guide. It comes with a 1/8 cup measuring scoop which, like the canister, is also made of stainless steel. It's a simple classic design that looks perfect next to my coffee maker. I just want it to work. I think this has value because it seals tight and keeps the coffee fresh. But since all functions work perfectly, I award fewer stars.
