Nice Lights for On-Camera Video Lights

This is a review of the Neewer 660 Bi-color LED Video Light. I bought them in a 4-pack which included the stand, diffuser plate, carrying cases and barndoors. I really like the headlights. The construction feels solid in the light and the light output is decent. The ability to adjust the light intensity is very good. The reading I got from my light meter was as follows: 1 Light set to full power on white light. 1/60 second at 400 ISO. 3'-F4, 6'-F2.8, 9'-F1.4 Full power yellow light. 3'- F4, 6'- F2.0, 9'- F1.4 Both LED sets at full power. 3'-F5.6, 6'-F4.0, 9'-F2.0 When I set all 4 to full power in a 17 x 15 foot room, it was enough to light everything well. I took a few test shots to test the color and it seems to work great when my Nikon camera is set to daylight. The only thing I thought of when I bought the set was an LCD display panel on the back of each unit that shows me what color temperature and brightness level I have set. The headlights I received did not have a bezel. Looking at the listing, I noticed that there was no picture of the back of the instrument on it. I also looked at their other offerings that had an LCD so I assumed that was the case, but that's my fault. To get an LCD, you'll have to order the enhanced version, which (for obvious reasons) costs more. The quality of the switches and knobs seems to be good. In general, I really like the lighting. There are few things I don't like. First, the power cord is not long enough and the transformer is hanging in mid-air. I'm going to attach it to the stand with velcro so it doesn't stretch. Second, barn doors prevent light from tilting down past the U-bracket. If you have a lantern mounted high and want to tilt it down, there isn't enough free space to do that. This also applies to the side doors as they need to be folded at a 90 degree angle to fit the U-Bracket so you can tilt it a bit. The workaround is to fold the doors, tilt them past the bottom of the U, and then pull out the bottom door. You're still limited with the side doors, but at least you can tilt them. The coasters are better than I expected. Not cheap and I think they will last a long time. The handles are small (see picture) but they are ok. Soft covers for lamps are also fine. It should be noted that there is an insert in the boxes stating that you can register the hardware online to validate the warranty. However, I didn't find any way to do this on their website. You must create an account. I can't find anywhere to enter your gear so I emailed them and asked for directions. Overall I'd say this is a great buy for $319.
