I didn't read the product description carefully - although it's a wireless controller was the main reason I bought it (the ability to plug my headphones into the controller) only works when the controller is connected to the switch itself. I repeat: you cannot get sound through headphones and use the controller wirelessly. Other than that, this is a great controller for the price. It looks/feels pretty cheap but works well apart from the audio limitation which I wasn't expecting due to my own error.
