Great gadget. Some of my work requires reading longer documents or non-computer related work which can make me seem like a "bum". Now I can easily remain "available" while I work on these tasks. It's also a good way to keep the icon green when you're out for a short break. :) The device is quiet but not silent, maybe like a CD tray. In fact, I find it quite rhythmic and soothing, and the hissing is easily drowned out by the music. I don't have a high level of IT oversight while I'm WFH so that doesn't bother me, but I've found that the mouse moves in fairly straight lines most of the time and not in the pattern described.
