This radio does exactly as advertised. Hurricane Nicole hit us last night and today and the radio worked like a champ. Used it to notify us when the weather service issues an alert and it did definitely go off a few times.The radio came with about a 50% battery charge. I used the supplied USB cable to charge it the rest of the way.it charged quickly enough. There are LED lights to show the power left in the radio.The tuner allows you to get FM, AM, and weather band stations which has a 7 position selector switch for the weather service for your area. If you turn the tuning knob all the way down it brings you to the Alert position for for the weather band. The unit doesn't turn the radio on, but the tuner light comes on to let you know it is working.How water resistant this radio is, I really don't know. I suppose I could have stood outside during the hurricane to see how it held up, but thought it would be best not to.It is easy to use the hand crank on the radio and you get about 5 minutes of radio time for every 1 minute of brisk cranking. It also comes with a solar panel to assist with keeping the batteries charged.It also has a flashlight that is pretty bright depending which level you have it on.I have no reservation with recommending this radio. It does the job well.
