Review on Neewer Wireless Control Shutter Release by Fred Griffin

Cheap and you get what you pay for

My Nikon Revain Basics remote died without warning so I decided to give these Neewer remotes a try. They're really inexpensive, and I've had good luck with Neewer flashes and ring lights in the past. I received the package today, it arrived as promised. I opened the first one, pulled out the plastic battery cover and tried it. Nothing. It went wrong. I took out the battery and made sure the voltage was good. It was. Tried it on a second Nikon camera. Still does not work. Well, maybe I was just unlucky and got a defect. I opened the second remote and it didn't work either. Nothing worked. What? I played around with the remotes a little more and after pressing the battery cover it sometimes worked. Sounds like the battery isn't making good connections. I tried bending the pins on the remote a bit to make the connection stronger, but that didn't help much. It's still difficult to get the remote to work. Conclusion: They are cheap and unreliable. I cannot recommend them even for the low price they are offered.
