This item does not come with all the hardware you will need. The manufacturer does not supply bottom fasteners (which are the supporting part and the most important component). I was able to take him to the bike shop next door. The mechanic pointed out that the bolts needed depend on the strength and intended use of the beam - if the bolts don't fit, they can break under certain loads. I use this with a Yepp Maxi bike seat - I obviously don't want my child to fall off the back of the bike because the rack was installed with the wrong hardware. My mechanic reviewed the strut specs and provided the appropriate bolts to mount the strut. So a thousand stars minus for giving away non-fully kitted items, but 2 stars because he's on my bike now and it's super easy to get a Yepp Maxi seat for him. Yes, and you do NOT need an Easyfit adapter with this stand when installing a Yepp Maxi.
