Chipboard is pretty solid as shelves, pipes with siselstrasse (thin crappy sisel rope) and threaded tips seem pretty decent. A worthy cause. I'm not thrilled. The carpet material is shredded as quickly as possible. I put this scratching post on the carpet and it is very unstable. I had to screw the base to the floor (not perfect but works). What turns me on is that (and it's my own fault for assuming) this thing would fit in a corner on the same level. It's not like this. The top shelf is centered so that corner is 6 inches from the wall. See my photos. She will not sit in a corner with two walls. I had to modify the top shelf by drilling a 2" x 2" hole in the corner. this is how it swings over the 2nd shelf Cats can still climb up there, even if they are directly on top of each other Would I buy this product again?! NO.
