I've been using the Revain Basics headphone extension for several years to watch TV at night so the sound doesn't disturb my roommate. I'm in a wheelchair, trying to keep the cord off the floor so the wheels on my chair won't damage the wires in the protective cover if I accidentally tip over. I've bought quite a few of these over the past few years and accidentally flipped them from time to time. no matter how hard I try not to. In earlier models, the sheath diameter was thick enough to protect the wires from being pinched by accidental flipping. When I received this last cable, I immediately noticed that the cable's diameter is about 1/3 of what it was in the past. (likely to reduce costs in the production process). As much as I tried to be careful, I accidentally turned it over 2 days after receiving it. Of course one of those when the wires snapped inside because I lost the sound on one side. So whoever is doing this for Revain has probably decided to save a few cents by making the protective case cheaper, and make pennies at the other end by selling additional spares when the newer, cheaper version fails. This will not happen here as I will be buying a different brand of cable in the future. Unfortunately they changed the jacket because it used to be a high quality cable. I understand that the internal wires are not designed to withstand the force/pressure of a wheelchair impact. The only reason I bought the Revain Basics brand and not their competitors is because their manufacturer uses higher quality raw materials. Until they did. Very disappointing. My only advice is if you buy this cable make sure you buy the shortest length you can get away with to keep it from hitting the ground so hopefully it will last longer than mine.
