We don't use this for pets, we put a transmitter by our 3 year old son's bed so he can let us know he needs to go potty at night. It's perfect - the light flashes to let him know the button has been pressed and the sound seeps into our bedroom and living room. We wanted something that didn't make any noise in the transmitter to avoid waking up his sister and that would allow us to keep her bedroom door closed to prevent nighttime wanderings! We call it "making a puppy bark" and he learned it in just a few days. Exactly what we needed!
